Papaya Smoothie Bowl

I was dreaming about a smoothie bowl for weeks! I finally took the challenge to try this at home and I absolutely loved it! Specially this recipe because includes papaya, one of my favourite fruits. I just love its refreshing taste. I don’t get to buy papaya as often as I would like to, but whenever I see it on the supermarket I take one home.

I actually came up with the idea for this recipe because I woke up thinking about my dad, who is having birthday today (Feliz Cumple Papito!). He will very often eat half of papaya for breakfast, so this fruit really reminds me of him.

Papaya is full of Vitamin C, rich in fibre and contains antioxidants that help to prevent cholesterol. So this breakfast bowl is not only delicious but also super healthy.

  • 1 papaya
  • 1 big apple
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 cup of rolled oats
  • 1 tsp agave syrup (or honey)
  • 2/3 cup fresh orange and/or mandarine juice (I actually used mandarine and carrot juice)

I used almond nuts, apple slices, dried coconut chips and rolled oats, but you can use any fruits, nuts or any other toppings you’d prefer.

Cut the apple in big chunks and add it to the blender. Cut the papaya in half and remove all the seeds with a spoon. Then add the papaya to the blender also in bigger pieces. Papaya is very soft so you will not need to cut it, you can just use the same spoon to add the pieces to the blender.

Add the remaining ingredients and blend them until you get a thick smoothie. If you feel the smoothie is way too thick, you can add some lemon juice.

Divide the smoothie in two bowls. Then add all toppings of choice.

That is all! Please feel free to share on the  comments below which toppings you used and if you played around with the fruit combination for your smoothie bowl.

    Hi Ivanna,
After seeing your recipe, I went to buy a Papaya for a little taste of Bolivia 🙂 I can’t believe how long it’s been!!!
Just had the smoothie bowl for breakfast and it was absolutely lovely! I topped it with peach and home-made Granola.
Let me know if you ever plan to come to Munich!
